Digital Skills for Beginners
This is a short course designed to introduce the user to the Internet, its uses and its potential. During this ten hour course the user will use e-mail, search engines, different web browsers, everyday government websites, audio-visual communication such as Skype, on-line shopping and much more. In addition, the user will become familiar with the theory of the Internet, its threats and how Internet security can be used for protection of personal data.
Touch Typing
This five week course is designed to run over five consecutive Wednesdays, each session will be a two and a half hour session with a short break in the middle. During the touch typing course the user will learn how to use a keyboard and how to find and use the keys from memory rather than sight. This is a fundamental lesson for anyone who will use a computer on a regular basis. Not only will it make typing quicker, but also an understanding of the layout of keys will help people use Software such as Screen Readers (JAWS, NVDA) more efficiently.
 Digital Skills Intermediate
This six week course will take place on six consecutive Thursdays each session will be two and a half hours in duration with a short break in the middle. This course is designed for people who already have some basic digital skills. This course will go further in to home computer use, incorporating file management, online services eg. banking, booking flights and hotels etc. It will cover social media with emphasis on Skype and Facetime etc.
