NCBI Library and Little Island Books are delighted to present Bumpfizzle the Best on Planet Earth by Patricia Forde in Braille to celebrate World Book Day 2019.
Bumpfizzle the Best on Planet Earth was chosen as the 2019 UNESCO Citywide Read for Dublin, with events taking place all around Dublin City between January and March this year. The campaign is being run by Dublin UNESCO City of Literature and Dublin City Council Public Libraries, in partnership with Little Island Books.
NCBI Library Manager, Lina Kouzi said “NCBI Library are delighted to be celebrating World Book Day on the 7th of March 2019.  This day has been celebrated annually for the past 22 years in Ireland, and the main objective of the Day is to encourage children to pick up a book and start reading. To celebrate World Book Day 2019, NCBI Library has worked closely with two publishing houses and a junior author to produce 3 accessible books for our young Library members.”
The aim is to encourage reading for pleasure among children all over the city. By creating this braille edition of the book, Little Island and NCBI wanted to make it available to children with visual impairments, or to visually impaired parents who might want to read it to their children, creating an inclusive reading campaign.
Bumpfizzle the Best on Planet Earth is now available for loan in Braille from the NCBI Library. Print copies of the book are available in all good bookshops and libraries.
