Social Connection & Sports and Leisure

Social connection and active participation in any sport or leisure activity is an important part of maintaining overall good health. Through NCBI, there are plenty of opportunities to participate in events, connect with peers through our day centres or technology virtual clubs, join our dedicated library and be involved in a wide range of sporting activities through Vision Sports.

NCBI also run the Connection Network Programme where our volunteers provide companionship to service users. This comes in the form of a weekly or daily phone call for someone who may like extra social contact. Our volunteers can also help the person to access information and other services. The service is free, confidential and informative. Should you wish to avail of the Connection Network Programme please contact your Community Resource Worker. If you wish to be one of our volunteers delivering the Connection Network Programme you can join here.

A number of peer support groups are in existence across the country and always open to new members to join. Please contact your Community Resource Worker to find out where your local one is located.
