NCBI is looking forward to hosting its next Virtual Technology Club session on Thursday April 20th at 7:00 pm.
Our first Virtual Technology Club test session took place on Thursday April 6th and we will be making several key improvements to the next one in order to make it a much better and enjoyable experience for participants.
To start with, this time we will be using âpush to talkâ and not âvoice activationâ, meaning that you will press and hold a key before speaking, and release that key when youâve finished, similar to how the old CB radios used to work. This means that only one person will be heard at any one time, and hopefully everyone will be able to keep track of what is going on and get a turn at speaking.
How does it work?
Weâre using a piece of software that youâll need to have installed on your computer in order to join the second meeting of the club. Weâve updated our Virtual technology Club User Guide which will walk you step-by-step through the installation and configuration of the software, show you how to enable ‘push to talk’, and allow you to connect to our virtual meeting room.
Our TeamTalk virtual room is open right now and will be available at any time between now and 20th April, in fact, thereâs nothing to stop people logging on right now to test your audio, or simply to have a chat.
It is a good idea to test your connection prior to our next full meeting. If anyone wishes to test and wants to talk to someone else in the room, please get in touch and we will fix a time in the coming days to do this.
We look forward very much to a lively and engaging session on April 20th, where hopefully we can share lots of knowledge and get some ideas flowing for the development of our virtual technology club.
